13.1 The Royal Society of Science Exists to promote understanding of an progress in the sciences. Fellowship in the Society is available to all but those who are also members of the Army, Navy or Clergy may not apply to be appointed as Royal Astronomer, Royal Botanist, Royal Chemist or Curator of the Royal Library.
13.2 A prospective Fellow must submit a treatise on a subject of his choosing concerning an observation, experiment, or invention in the physical of social sciences. A total of 4 weeks must be spent in research for, and writing of, the treatise. These weeks do not have to be in the same month. A summary of the treatise is then sent to the King (GM) who will forward a copy to any PC who is a fellow in the academy. Votes are then cast and a die rolled to see whether the candidate is admitted as a fellow. A 4+ (d6) is required with a +1 for every "Yes" vote that the candidate receives and -1 for each "No" Vote". The King (or in some cases the curator of the King's library) has 2 votes. The King can use his 2 votes to apply anything from a -2 to a +2 on the die roll depending on his view of the submitted treatise.
13.3 Fellowship lasts for 12 months from the date of the acceptance of the last treatise. A Fellow submitting a further treatise receives a +1 modifier but may not vote on the acceptance of his own work. A Fellow gains 1 SP a month for every treatise that has been accepted by the Society for as long as he remains a Fellow, up to an amount equal to his SL. He may also attend the annual Address and Reception in October (Takes place at the Hanoverian, Fellows must pay their own carousing costs but get SP for club rankings as for toadying, plus a bonus 5 SP).
13.4 Being accepted as a Fellow into the Society for the second year, and each third acceptance after that qualifies the character for a title attempt. There are also 4 appointments just for Fellows, and two others that membership allows the character to hold.
